I deserve to arrive at my destination without detour.

I have goals in life and places that I would like to reach and I deserve to get there as directly as possible.

I am able to do this for myself because I avoid creating detours and obstacles with unrealistic expectations. Letting go of my anticipation for the finish line helps me to remain hopeful on the path in front of me.

When I remain focused on the here-and-now, I won’t trip over myself because I was too busy looking ahead. I am where I am today and I accept it with an open heart and mind. I choose to let tomorrow’s problems be solved tomorrow because I am too busy embracing today. I am focused on where I am today because this is where I am supposed to be.

I will reach my destination exactly when I am supposed to; that’s why I stay focused on the now. I risk detours from my objective when I lose perspective and focus on expectations. That’s why I let go of the expectations and simply enjoy the ride!

Today I choose to focus no farther than the next step. I let go of unrealistic expectations and I release the desire to anticipate the end destination. Instead, I sit back and enjoy my current adventure. After all, the ride is the best part of my journey.

Questions of Reflection:

1.    Have I lost my focus by feverishly anticipating the end?
2.    How can I focus my attention on the present?
3.    Have I enjoyed the ride today?
